Grandma and Grandpa Averett's Christmas Party

Time for the Annual Averett Family Christmas party. This year we were missing Ryan and Kim and family but still had fun with the Colton Clan. The party always starts off with all of us indulging in some yummy food and then getting ready for the talent show portion of the night. We started off with just a scripture read of Luke instead of putting on the nativity due to our program directors Kim and Rachel no being with us this year. So next year will be a real show stopper! Emery and Halle were the only ones that didn't want to share a talent. Treven did great sining "The greast gift is love" and Tyler playing Silent night on the guitar with Jaron singing. Poor Jaron forgot the words half way through and to me the best part of the night, was everyone just started singing silent night together to help Jaron out. Aw the spirit of Christmas! Kenadi sang a beautiful song, Jaron played the piano, and Megan played the piano, Tyson joined my girls by not sharing a talent this time. After the talent show was presnet opening and boy was Treven excited. When he opened his lego's he kept telling me to hold him down because he was so excited he might start running around! He just smiled and hugged that box of legos all night! Tyler was also equally as excited when Grandma and Grandpa gave him an electric guitar and since he has gotten that thing he was been playing none stopped and even gave his mom a guitar lesson today and made up a song. Halle loved her Furby, but when Furby won't go to sleep last night she was looking for an off button! Emery got a Minnie kitchen and kept begging for her dad to open it. Well we wouldn't and told her we had to wait until we got home and that didn't go over well with the princess so she had some tanturm moments. She did get a little happy when it was time for the fish pond and she got a minnie mouse shopping cart and bows that we did let her open and play with. Halle got a barbie thats a camera, Treven got a simon Says game, and Tyler got an itunes gift card. I love that my parents are carrying on the tradition of the christmas fish pond from my Grandma Strong. That always made my christmas and this will be tradition that I will carry on for my kids and Grandkids.

After all the presents were given, and again my parents not only spoiled their grandkids but their kids as well, it was time for what the kids look forward to every year was the races. This year it was a point system and unfortunetly the strongs didn't come out a head this year and we had to give the title of winners to the Colton Clan. It was so much fun playing a finger football game, shooting a cross bow, racing little fourwheelers, shooting tanks, and a Buzz and Woody shooters. Thank you dad for always coming up with something new every year! We loved it!
